Physician Verbal Orders
Maintain compliance through the power of physician mobility
AbbaDox facilitates the authentication of physician verbal orders by replacing handwritten notes and forms with completely electronic workflow processes. The verbal orders, as produced by a nurse, medical assistant, or nurse practitioner, are placed into a special workflow queue within AbbaDox where physicians can apply their electronic signatures to the orders within the CMS mandated 48-hour timeframe. The entire process is broken down into four easy steps:
1) The nurse or medical assistant receives a verbal order from the doctor. Using AbbaDox, an electronic tracking slip is created.
2) A digital version of the paper-based physician order document opens, and the nurse enters the details of the order into the eForm.
3) Upon confirmation, the completed verbal order eForm is assigned to the ordering physician, and an email notification is automatically sent to the doctor. The message includes a link to securely login to AbbaDox using a computer or Smartphone device.
4) The details of the order are presented to the doctor, who can either approve or reject the verbal order. Separate workflows can be built in to manage reject orders.
Auditing information of each order notates the transaction details and can be sent to the HIM system, along with an image of the finalized physician order, upon completion of the process. The signed form is also archived into AbbaDox's cloud-based patient charts.
