Scanning and archiving a key part of EHR readiness
(BUSINESSWIRE) FT. LAUDERDALE – August 1, 2011 – Integrated Document Solutions (IDS), a provider of cloud-based healthcare technology, and SourceMedical, the largest provider of information systems for ambulatory surgery centers, today announced an agreement allowing IDS to provide document scanning and outsourced paper imaging services to help SourceMedical’s clients with the conversion of patient charts, administrative records, and surgical pictures to electronic form , a key part of transitioning to EHR.
"Scanning is one of the most overlooked components of EHR readiness," said IDS president Yaniv Dagan. “Our professional document scanning services will allow SourceMedical clients to quickly and efficiently address this important need.”
"Partnering with IDS allows SourceMedical to offer our customers an effective way to transition out of paper records to an electronic repository, a key element of their EHR initiatives," stated Ron Pelletier, Vice President of Market Strategy for SourceMedical’s Surgery Division.
Participating facilities can decide whether to archive the documents in their SourceMedical management system or online using IDS’s Web-based portal, AbbaDox. IDS offers three chart archiving options:
Self-Scanning – Facilities can use IDS rules-based scanning technology to internally manage and automate the most routine scanning processes to achieve significant imaging speed and efficiencies.
Dynamic Sorting – A distributed approach to scanning where documents are locally scanned and then uploaded to dedicated secured queues. The documents are then sorted, indexed, and filed for archival by IDS.
Outsourced Document Scanning – The IDS scanning service bureau will provide centers with a reliable and secure resource for outsourcing their paper records, imaging backlogs, and ongoing scanning needs.
